We are pretty normal.
We try to keep things simple. We hang out with God and do our best to do what he says. We know first hand that God changes things and he changes people - in BIG ways. He is why we do what we do and we pray that all that we do reflects and glorifies Christ.
Why we do what we do
We'd probably all agree that there are multiple facets to having a better life. We can get a better car and still want to have a better marriage. Improve our work situation but need to figure out how to organize our garage so we could actually park in there.
Of course, some stuff is way more impactful than others in our lives. If we never address the avalanching cupboard of Tupperware it won't impact our day like dealing with our child who won't help out. Some stuff makes a difference and some stuff is just nice to have.
When we took a look around we saw so many people struggling in huge ways in life. They weren't bettering their lives in ways that really mattered. It was all window dressing. Nice drapes on the shanty. New siding on the hovel of their lives.
We saw why that was happening...at least to a big degree.
Society as a whole wants us to believe that we're on our own. To live for today. To be the author of our own lives. Yet, individually, people want to know why they're here, what the purpose of life is, and if the Bible is true. People want to know about God, about what's next, and if they are going to go to heaven. People want to know if they are really on their own.
People want to know but we've stopped talking about those things.
We get it. There are a lot of people who have gotten burned by church or religion. We Christians mess up, sometimes a lot, even though we may have good intentions. Remember, we're all a bunch of sinners who God's still working on. In our attempts to tell others about God we got high on our horses, pointed fingers, and forgot that the good news God wanted people to know about was, well, GOOD news.
We thought we could try getting it right. Being Better is a place where we tell about how to improve every area of life.
While we write from a Christian perspective, Being Better is written for everyone trying to have a better life. As Christians, we know that's not possible without meeting Jesus so we share stories about how God is working in people's lives. Our goal is to offer hope in every area of our lives...and not make it freaky.
